Kadıköy is a buzzy place day and night, whether we are talking about the main or the back streets. And sometimes, in that commotion, we seek a calm and peaceful place to sit, freshen up, or enjoy some food. That was exactly the case when I first discovered Lil Bake, a small café that later on became one of my most frequented places
It was nearly Christmas when I first went to Lil Bake Moda, so they had covered the door with lots of charming decorations, welcoming all customers to a festive atmosphere. And, of course, other than the decked ambiance filled with ribbons and lights, the other element that catches your attention when you walk in is the display of their croissants and desserts. The interior decoration is also appealing to the eye with its simple design and nude-colored walls and cushions.

The place is mostly renowned for its brunch and bakery options, but most specifically its croissants, so that is why I ordered one without a doubt, and it is definitely safe to say that it did not disappoint! The range was already very broad; you could find every type of croissant you could want. In addition to this, the fact that they offer numerous savory options is definitely appreciable. Based on my experience, the service was decent, our orders always arrived soon enough, but most importantly, the food was always great! The first time I went there, I tried their avocado and cheese croissant, which I evidently enjoyed as it is very much the reason I revisited it multiple times. You could definitely tell that they use quality ingredients. Also, their “pain au chocolat” is always well-balanced and satisfying; thus, I always get one whenever I stop by. They offer other breakfast options as well, such as morning salads, granola bowls, and some traditional platters, which are all good quality as well. It is also mentioned in their menu that they use organic ingredients, which is always a plus. And ever since a couple of weeks, Lil Bake not only offered breakfast but also lunch dishes, such as burgers based on croissants and fries that never disappoint.

Additionally, even though the place does not seem to be a coffeehouse, their cappuccino never fails to satisfy your caffeine cravings and warm you up on a cold day. Their hot beverage range is very generous, as you can also find various herbal tea mixes that look equally delicious.

Lastly, I would like to mention their desserts. Despite the fact that they update their menu very frequently, you can always find modernized derivatives of croissants such as “cruffins” and apple pie croissants, their usual cookies with gluten-free and vegan options, or sometimes delicate and detailed deserts like Saint Honore or Paris Brest.
In short, the next time you find yourself in the Kadıköy district and decide to sit somewhere to relax, give this place a chance and treat yourself to its extensive menu. No matter what time of day it is, you can trust that a simple croissant paired with a hot coffee from Lil Bake will make your day.
